What can be monitored with ApexSQL Monitor?
ApexSQL Monitor can show and track SQL Server performance (statistic, memory, buffer, and pages), operating system performance (CPU, memory, disk, paging, and network), and SQL Server database performance
Are the metrics updated in real-time?
Yes, they are updated as soon as a change occurs
Are the monitored values available later?
Yes, there is a history of captured values available in the repository for later viewing and analysis
Where is the collected data stored?
All monitored data is saved in a single SQL Server database
Can I delete historic data?
Yes, to avoid stockpiling of unnecessary data, the data repository can be cleaned. A user can choose the number of days to purge the unnecessary data
Can the metrics be shown in graphs?
Yes, all monitored data is represented in graphs. Depending on the metric type and the information presented, the metric is displayed as a column, line, or pie chart
Is there any overhead on the monitored instances?
No, there is almost no overhead as the data is collected using the tools already available in the operating system and SQL Server
Do I need to install any components on the monitored machines/servers?
No, ApexSQL Monitor doesn’t install any agents to collect performance metric values. The only component added is a SQL Server database used as a repository. Data from multiple SQL Server instances can be collected in the same repository
Can I monitor remote machines and SQL Server instances?
Yes, ApexSQL Monitor can track SQL Server performance on multiple local and remote SQL Server instances
Can I monitor unique metrics on different machines and SQL Server instances?
Yes, every single SQL Server instance can have different metrics tracked
Licensing and evaluation
How is ApexSQL Monitor licensed?
ApexSQL Monitor is licensed per SQL Server instance
Are there any restrictions or limitations on the evaluation version of ApexSQL Monitor?
There is a time limitation of 14 days, during which ApexSQL Monitor is fully functional
Is alerting available?
